Gardening

My book club read Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle in February 2008. A few loved it, a few hated it, a few were indifferent. I was one of the gals who loved it. And it also promted a garden club that year. Like any true newbie, I documented everything. I had to rip out a flower garden to make room for my veggies, but gosh-darnit, it turned out to be a fabulous (though small) garden.

I had HUGE zucchini plants: Starting from seedlings in newspaper pots
See how HUGE?? Look at the penny for scale!
You gotta have a boy and a girl to make a baby!

I had very successful tomatoes, green beans, potatoes, and semi-successful carrots. We're only going to be here half-way through July this year, but I've got the bug, so I'm attempting tomatoes again. I picked up seedlings for Garden Delight (a cherry tomato), Cherokee Purple (grew them last year and LOVED them), Green Zebra, and Orange Oxheart. I plant them in the ground tomorrow! Wish me luck!
